Landscapes

When I started painting years ago, I imagined myself as a landscape artist (doesn't everyone?) I wanted to do something to set my work apart from others, so I started outlining with black. Doing so moved the landscapes closer to abstracted images, and I was able to highlight the patterns, shapes, and designs that I worked with as a quilter. Rather than choosing realistic colors, I increase intensity, so that the finished pieces vibrate with color and I hope, joy.
